Hi! I am so excited to share drawer #3 of my mini office supply organizing challenge. My office is starting to feel much more put together. I am on a mission to use supplies I already have on hand. The first two drawers involved some fun D.I.Y.s to maximize the storage space. For the third drawer I was able to use some Dollar Tree organizers. The supplies to store in drawer #3 included a pair of scissors, a flash light, long and short envelopes, and pretty stationery. This is what I like about these organizers:
- fit well in the drawer (right height, width and length)
- the different sizes accommodate the envelopes and stationery well
- and they interlock
Dollar Tree Organizers
I started by adding a drawer liner to the bottom of the drawer. It makes it look pretty but also provides a non slip surface for my scissors.
Next I added the configuration of organizers that worked best for the supplies.
Although I like the clean look of the drawer with the clear organizers I still wanted to add a little something to the bottom of the organizers to give them a little pop.
I found a scrap piece of wrapping paper with a mail motif which was perfect for the supplies theme of the drawer: envelopes, stationery and stamps. The size of the scrap was big enough that I could cut out three pieces I needed.
I covered it with contact paper before cutting it (it’s easier to cover one larger piece of paper than three small ones). Then I measured the inside dimensions of each organizer (width and length). I transferred to the wrapping paper and cut along the lines.
Because the drawer organizers fit a bit loose I wanted to secure them so they wouldn’t shift when I open and close the drawer. To secure them I used clear double-sided tape. The tape is 1 inch wide so I cut the length I wanted and then cut the width in half so each piece was about 1/2″ wide and about 3″ long. I added the two strips of tape between the organizer and the drawer. I left the top film of the tape on for the pictures below so you can see where I positioned it.
After securing the organizers I added the supplies. I was even left with one empty organizer.
